Wesley UMC believes in extending God's love to the whole of creation. With God's mercy reedeming all of God's works, and all that God loves.  Wesley UMC works diligently to offer emergency aid, reduce poverty, end hunger and offer educational opportunities to our community. Wesley UMC has many outreach programs funded through donations and tithes, along with grants and community partnerships.

UTILITY | RENT | FOOD | FUEL

Wesley United Methodist Church wants to love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously in our community. Allen County residents in need, please come to the church offices located at 301 E Madison, Iola, KS 66749, on Mondays to learn how we might assist you, or you may call (620)365-2285. We are available from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.  Below you can find more information about how each program we offer can assist you.

Utility Assistance (C.U.R.B)

The Community Utility Assistance Program provides emergency funds up to $150.00 per family for Allen County residents by sending the funds directly to the utility provider. To apply for assistance, please visit the church offices every Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A copy of your current utility bill is required.  C.U.R.B. is funded by donations. If you would like to donate, please click on the giving tab of our website and designate CURB. Assistance is offered to families once per year. 

Rental Assistance

Emergency rental assistance provides emergency funds up to $150.00 per family living in Allen County. To apply, please visit the church offices every Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Rental Assistance is available once per year. The Rental Assistance program is made possible through a partnership with  Salvation Army from donations collected in Allen County Kansas.

Commodities

Wesley offers emergency food assistance in two ways. Commodities are distributed every other month during the fourth Monday of the month, beginning at 4:30 p.m.  Commodities, a federally funded program that seeks to remove food insecurity and encourage nutrition for area families, provides the food resources for commodities. Please like and follow our Facebook page in addition to checking our website to stay informed concerning commodities distributions or changes to the program. 

Emergency food packs for individuals without housing or children are distributed from the Church offices. Operating hours are Monday to Thursday, 9:00  am- 1:00 pm. 

FUEL ASSISTANCE

Wesley UMC seeks to help our community families stay healthy by offering assistance with transportation costs to scheduled doctor's appointments. Gas cards are available to Iola area residents only;  gas cards are not issued to other transportation services in our area , to those living outside Iola or for appointments inside the city limits. To request a gas card, please visit the church offices            Monday - Thursday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. A copy of the doctor's appointment is required.
